Officials said nine people were injured, a church building and several local shops were destroyed, and the windows were blown out of several high-rise buildings.
Russia said it had shot down two drones near the capital on Wednesday. Its Ministry of Defense has reported that 12 drones were aimed at Moscow in recent weeks.
Ukrainians say the explosions 37 minutes apart in Pokrovsk, which killed at least nine people and injured 82 others, were a “double tap” intended to kill rescuers responding to the first strike.
